About the Artisan FX Type-99

The Artisan FX Type-99 is a control-focused gaming mouse pad designed for players who deliberately prefer a very slow glide and extremely high stopping power.

Artisan places the Type-99 in its Low-Speed category. The surface creates more resistance during mouse movement, giving you greater control over stopping and smaller adjustments rather than prioritising effortless speed.

The Type-99 uses a smooth knit surface, giving it a controlled character without relying on an aggressively rough texture. This makes the surface itself an important part of the Type-99 experience: slow, controlled movement combined with a smoother feel.

For players who already know that they prefer slower mouse pads and place a high priority on stopping power, the Type-99 represents the control-focused end of Artisan’s cloth mouse pad range.

Quick-Drying Surface

The Type-99 uses a quick-drying fabric designed to reduce the effects of humidity and sweat.

Moisture can affect how a cloth mouse pad feels during use. By helping the surface dry quickly, the Type-99 is designed to reduce changes in glide caused by these conditions and maintain a more consistent playing surface.

This is particularly useful during longer gaming sessions or in warmer and more humid environments.

SOFT Base

This version of the Artisan Type-99 uses the SOFT base, which provides a moderately cushioned feel underneath the playing surface.

SOFT allows some compression when pressure is applied while remaining firmer than Artisan’s XSOFT base. Artisan describes SOFT as a highly versatile firmness and recommends it as an all-round option.

The combination of the Type-99 surface and SOFT base provides the very high stopping power of the Type-99 together with a moderate amount of cushioning underneath the surface.

XL Size

The XL Artisan Type-99 measures 490 × 420 mm and is 4 mm thick with the SOFT base.

The XL size provides a large usable area for broad mouse movements and lower-sensitivity gaming without moving to the deeper dimensions of Artisan’s XXL format.

Artisan identifies XL as its recommended mouse pad size, making it a practical choice for a wide range of gaming setups.
